Oven Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup dark Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 5 quarts popped popcorn (or puff corn)
  • spanish peanuts (optional)

Instructions

Bring brown and white sugar, butter, Karo syrup and salt to boil and boil for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add baking soda. Pour mixture over popcorn (may add Spanish peanuts). Mix well. Divide into 2 large pans (one pan on bottom and one on top) in oven. Bake for 45-60 minutes at 250 degrees. Stir every 15 minutes. Pour out on wax paper and cool.
